Books and more books…

I decided after finding a quote that I found hilarious that belonged to the book “American Gods”, by Neil Gaiman to actually buy the book that it came from. I have heard over the course of many years that Neil Gaiman is a great author and many people enjoy his written works. I just never thought his writing was for me, but yet I respected him as an author in the book geek community. I did a thing and I ordered American Gods and while I was looking up books written by him I also found a diamond among the other jewels and saw Norse Mythology written by Gaiman as well. I love Norse mythology so I also picked up this book as well. Then I decided to finish my “A Court of Thorns and Roses” by Sarah J. Maas and bought books two and three. The one that was recently released is still in hardcover and I have a thing about my books matching. It still drives me nuts that my Twilight books 1 through 3 are paperback and the last one is in hard cover. Also, don’t get me started that my Harry Potter books one through four are paperback and the rest are in hardcover. That one drives me more crazy.

Anyway, I don’t know if I even will get that fourth court of roses book, but I don’t intend on starting to read that series until I completely finish the Throne of Glass series. The last installment, which has a title now, “The Kingdom of Ash”, will be published at the end of October. I have started collecting the paperback versions of ToG series even though I started reading them on my Kindle. I have it pre-ordered on my Kindle so that I can start reading it the minute it’s released and I absolutely cannot wait. I think I will wait a long while and get it in paperback so it can match it’s sisters…because I am weird. The only hardcover of ToG is the Tower of Dawn and I don’t mind that one being in hardcover because it really isn’t part of the series, but then again it is because it’s only telling a story that has events that are happening at the SAME TIME as Empire of Storms. I like to think of it as a side thing just like the prequel book with the side stories of when Celeana is 16 and still an assassin. And yet…that one I have on my shelf with the other as a paperback…

^^;

It all works out…

With more time on my hands this summer now that I am off from college and on vacation I am determined to get more books read. I should make a summer reading goal. I want to read and finish anywhere from six to ten novels. Is that too much? No, but it can be done. It’s just a matter of organizing my time and testing this new medications limits and what it can really do for my brain. I also am going to get into new better habits and re-arrange my life for the better so I can get stuff done. I also hope to start book reviews as well, but I probably will only have time in the summers to do these. I am very hopeful though. This is going to work and I can’t wait for my book delivery!

Long chapters drive me crazy

The third book in the fallen series called, Passion, by Lauren Kate is a little better so far than her previous installments in the series. But, my biggest gripe since the first book is that her chapter are so FREAKING long! I don’t expect them to be super short, but that’s what makes me read and continue on more if I see I am getting somewhere and making progress in my reading by knocking down chapter after chapter. If I am reading and I have to stop somewhere because IĀ  have somewhere to be or go do something, or if I am reading before bed and I don’t want to be stuck right in the middle of something I hate that. It drives me nuts and I can’t be the only one.

This third installment is more interesting this time because…well without spoiling anything let’s just say a lot of past lives are going to be explored. This means more traveling and more interesting events. Let’s keep it that way and not stretch story scenes for too long. It’s just as bad as author’s describing every little detail to the last grain of dust. If your the type of reader that loves that kind of writing in a book then more power to you, but that’s just not my cup of tea.

I love the feel and look of each slip cover for each novel. I have the whole Fallen series because I have a collecting problem. So if I have part one and I haven’t read (or in the case of video games…played it/finished it) I’ll go buy the next installment(s). It’s part of the series so why not?

My thoughts on the characters of the series is that Daniel can be an asshole and you do get pissed at him, but towards the end of book two you see and can feel why he was doing the things he did. In the beginning of Book three this becomes more apparent and you do feel for the guy. Luce on the other hand I felt was just a really dumb love struck teen in the first novel, but towards the middle of the second novel she then starts to have doubts about her relationship to Daniel. I think she’s dumb for staying with a guy that lies, keeps things from her, and other things. Yes, this is for a reason, but when you are with someone you keep them in the loop so they understand what’s going on and their partners actions. It’s just common sense. What is it some sense of superiority alpha male bull shit that he can’t tell her the truth? Maybe there is a bigger picture and another reason for this and I just haven’t gotten to it yet.

More developments on this later as I read further on for book three…

Update V1.8 and other stuff…

Sorry, I know I have not blogged in a long while. I had a small “depression and anxiety spell”. This sometimes happens when it gets closer to the date of when my father passed. I did manage not to completely stop going to the gym. I also got caught up with watching American Ninja Warrior again. I think I want to train for it again and what stopped me last time is I realized heights were actually involved on the show and I am afraid of heights. I want to overcome this fear by getting fit and trying my hand at Spelunking to conquer this fear.

I am afraid of a doctor’s appointment at the end of the month of July. It is not my regular doctor, but a podiatrist and I am not too happy that my regular doctor said since I am diabetic it is now mandatory to see a foot doctor. I’m afraid they will not be very nice and do things to my feet that might be scary and/or painful and I just do not want to go. In other news though I started writing my novel! Yay! Mom is editing the first chapter and I realized I should have double spaced it for easier editing. I am currently writing chapter three….

Yes I can count! Here’s the thing…while editing my mom said my first chapter was too long and broke it up into two. Hence, I need to start writing chapter three. I need to read more books for practice and I know my reading has slowed down, but I will get back on the horse so to speak. Back to the gym tomorrow morning as well. I keep forgetting I have training to do for my half marathon that I am suppose to be able to walk and complete September 2018. When things are really far away into the future I tend to forget about them. ^^;

Good news is I lost ten pounds. šŸ™‚

Crunch Time and UPDATE V1.7

When I mean crunch time…

I mean at work has been really super busy and we are reorganizing and getting ready for new people and stuff…I can not divulge further than that. It’s classified. šŸ™‚

I will probably go back to regular blog updates as soon as my vacation starts and things start slowing down. I will be seriously writing my novel this summer because it is now or never. This will also be the tenth time starting it over. Once I got as close as to nine chapters before I realized I was copying a cliche plot that was another plot from a book that I read in middle school when I re-found said book recently and smacked myself on the forehead and had a “D’oh” moment.

Also I had caffeine this morning…

I need to make sure I do not rant and/or ramble on here.
