It’s time for another new year…

I just looked and it’s time for another new year already and now it’s going to be 2020! How did the years start creeping up? I swear after you turn a certain age it just goes down hill really fast like a roller coaster. Anyway, my weight loss has been more successful in inches lost than pounds that I have been stressing over trying to keep my pants up at work. It would have been really embarrassing for my pants to fall down at work. My shirts are short and I am long in the torso I guess…

I have a doctor appointment on New Year’s Eve! I got a hold of my A1C blood work that I had gotten done at the end of November and my glucose levels went down from 7.2 to 6.6! This is exciting! I need to discuss with the doctor about seeing a chiropractor and a few other things to help me.

Weight loss update!

My official weight loss log in in is Friday. But, I had weighed myself on Monday morning and lost two pounds. That is probably due to water though and not actual pounds, but I’ll take what I can get. ^^;

I hit the gym Monday and due to having to do an online class on my phone wound up with thirty minutes on the treadmill. I had done twenty minutes on the elliptical. That means I had a total of fifty minutes of gym time on Monday. I was going to go again yesterday and just walk on the treadmill, but I was too tired and I decided to keep it to three days a week as planned. Because you can go through a burn out when you start up a new exercise habit. All though I want to keep Friday open for other stuff so I might also hit the gym tomorrow as well. We all know I’ll tell myself I’ll go Saturday early in the morning, but I never do because that habit got broken. This I need to rectify as soon as possible because I miss my early morning runs on Saturday. I want to get in my three workout days during the week and if I feel like another and getting up 6am for it on a Saturday then I should do it.

I want to lost twenty pounds before July 4th and I am going to stick to this goal. I am going on another trip vacation to L.A. with my boyfriend for a convention, and I heard the space is even bigger than the convention I just went to in Anaheim. I want to be in tip top shape for walking around and hopefully having lots of energy for it. I have been caffeine free for a long while now, because of a medication I take it’s not a good idea. This is going to be really exciting and I’ll try not to ingest any caffeine….but I make no promises. ^^;

 

Vacation, Determination, and new health goals.

Last weekend I went on vacation for four days. I went to WonderCon with my boyfriend. I had a lot of fun and it was a lot bigger than any of the local conventions that I have been to. We even stopped at the L.A. Zoo on our way back. In total I walked 48,000 steps the whole trip. I made a new goal of trying to get 10,000 steps a day on my FitBit. We are suppose to go to L.A. again for the fourth of July weekend. We both made some new health goals. I vow to lose twenty pounds before the July trip. I want to get stronger, healthier, and fit into smaller clothes. XD

Right now I am fighting allergies and I am taking allergy medication and some decongestant. It’s not too bad it’s just at a level of slight inconvenience at this point. Now that we both have some goals set in place and we are going to cheer each other on, I am sure we are going to do very well. Relationship Goals…right? 8D

I am determined. I am focused. I can do this.

Book Review – Eldest, By Christopher Paolini

Eldest is the second book in the Inheritance saga and is written by Christopher Paolini. I would like to say that I think I liked the first book better than the second installment. Because I think nothing really happens in this second installment. I mean like literally nothing happens! The author has Eregon spend a lot of time with the Varden, then he gets shipped off to the Elves where he spends half the book training as a Rider. Yeah we sometimes cut to Roran and I actually felt relieved when it was his time in the spotlight. I was bored to tears and figured out the plot twist in the end of this book around the tenth chapter. It is painfully obvious of the allusions to other films and literary works. I felt like Christopher Paolini used them as cookie cutters, but jazzed the cookies up and made them his own. The allegory in this novel is painfully simple that a monkey could point it out. If I had started reading this series when I was younger I would still find some of these faults, like the allusions, but I would probably be giddy with delight at the connections and write them off as nothing more than a parody. I would probably have liked this book better. I probably would have had the whole series read and done by now.

Now those are my grievances, and now here are the positive criticisms:

The author’s writing is slightly better and more fluid than the first novel of the series, even if at some points the dialogue seems forced, or as if the author tried too hard. Christopher Paolini does have an extraordinary imaginative talent, but his starting point started from a “Heroes Journey” (which George Lucas and many others have used as a reference). But, instead of using it as a road map like other storytellers I think he used it while it was already wrapped around other’s stories and put them together. I did enjoy the ancient language that he came up with using different old mythologies (especially Norse Mythology). I was happily gleeful at the Norse references and allusions. Well, because I love Norse Mythology. I love mythology in general, but you know…

If I had read Lord of the Rings I probably would of stopped after reading the first book, Eregon, but I only watched the long agonizing films. Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings films, but man were they really long and hard to keep up with. I endured though and loved the action sequences and….Okay I am getting off topic.

I am writing this review because I only have had four hours of sleep the previous night.

Oh! I did like the subtle jokes that was peppered through out the book. With the other criticisms I do have to say that I have always enjoyed reading the last eight chapters though. Because it seems like Christopher Paolini gets a second wind or something because he knows he’s at the ending for the novel and moves the plot faster. This keeps my interest and I also enjoy the climax and the falling action of the novel. The author also does this tease thing where the plot/story will pick up in the middle or a little after the middle, but then die down again until towards the end. This feels like I have been on this long journey and I am almost out of energy, but then there is a pit stop and then a power up/recharge. Then things slow down again. I love and hate that.

I give Eldest three out of five stars.

I would write even more about it, but I am really tired and I need to at least try and get some sleep. I hope this review is useful to anyone who reads it. I also may revise this once I can actually catch some Z’s….

Captain Marvel Review

I just saw the film Captain Marvel. I thought it was really well done. The technology for today to make an actor look fifty years younger is amazing. There were a few twists in the film, one I already figured out, but the why I was slightly wrong on. I know I am being a bit vague, but I don’t want to accidentally write down a spoiler in this review. I love Goose the cat, but I am also afraid of Goose…you’ll see why when you see the film. If you’ve already seen the film then you know what I am talking about. ^^;

The camera angles for the flying/action scenes were great, they did a good job of Stan Lee’s cameo in the film (I don’t know if this was his last or if his last is suppose to be in Endgame), only the beginning was slow instead of half the film (because you know….set up and all), and the movie was just kick ass. The beginning was a bit confusing, but now that I think about it the filmmakers probably wanted it that way because the main character had some confusion herself.

All I can say is that the movie was so good I didn’t even finish my popcorn and that is saying a lot. So run out there and go see Captain Marvel! I promise I do not work for any film companies or anything. If I did I wouldn’t be living in a desert with two feline fuzzballs. This is not an endorsement. I just love movies. 🙂

2019 here we go again…

I know I have not written in 5 months or so, but I kinda got busy and forgot about this blog. There have been a lot of crazy things happening, and I have been talking to some new doctors. There have been some adjustments to some medications and now my blood sugar is doing better. I lost more weight and last time I checked my weight went down to 281.

There have been a lot of health changes and other life changes. I now have a boyfriend and everything is new…sort of. It’s a long story and I am going to cut this post short, but I will try and blog everyday if not at least every week. I know I’ve written this before, but at least I never really quit. I updated a few of the tabs on this blog, so check them out of you are interested. It’s quick information. I promise.

Like the Turtle in that one race…

Everything has been super busy and I do have good news. I have dropped 23 pounds according to Real Appeal (when I started that), but if you’ve been following my Training tab on this site you’ll notice it’s more than that. I am now at 286 pounds and I really don’t know where it’s going off to…

I did not have weight loss surgery just to let people know because I am a chicken. I don’t like the thought of me being knocked out while doctors cut me open and do stuff. I do know this though, is that especially while I was sick for a week and a half I had to really put my foot down and say NO to dairy temporarily. I was weaning myself off before, but now that included eggs as well. This was because dairy and eggs and certain other foods make phlegm…’nough said about that. -_-;

Maybe my body has a real aversion to it? I mean I can eat eggs and get the same results, but cutting out milk, cheese, and things puts things into perspective. With the weather cooling down and me steadily losing weight I should be able to hasten the process by going on more hikes and doing more activity rather than sitting on my bum eating potato chips.

My blood sugars are starting to drop too. The last time I went to the doctor (don’t know if I’ve blogged about this part yet) my A1C dropped from 8.0 to 7.4 and that was on August 8th when I got my blood drawn by the vampires. ^w^

I am going to hit the gym today for the first time from being sick and see where that goes. Wish me luck. 🙂

 

Midnight Raven – UPATE

This post is only to update my (if I have any left) subscribers to let them know that I have a new very short story. You only have to go to the home page of this site and click on the “Midnight Raven” tab. Since it’s almost October I’ll be probably writing creepy, horror, or dark poems, stories, and art. I want to practice more on my writing and see if I get better. Enjoy!

So here’s the thing…

I know I kind of made this web blog mostly about my health journey with sides of my hobbies. But, that kind of makes it boring and how many times can you write in a blog post, “went to the gym today…”. I do want to write more and I do want to still write about my health journey. I also want to write about opinions of things like reviews basically. I want to review movies, books, games, etc. I am staying away from news, political, or worldly things. It’s not that I don’t have an opinion on these things I just rather keep them to myself, or maybe I just don’t have an opinion at all. A lot of times I am just Switzerland anyways so it doesn’t matter. I hate for my blog to just sit here and I don’t do anything with it. Most of the times though I am so busy so therefore I forget about it. If it’s not on my main radar list of things then it gets pushed aside, but not on purpose and I am trying my best to fix that.

On the upside is it’s now September and so far I am now down to 289.8 pounds. I haven’t been this weight since I was 19 years old. Hopefully I can keep this going. For awhile it was going up and down between 295 and 298. It was weird. So the scale decided to finally move it’s lazy butt in the right direction. My sugar levels are slowly starting to get better.

Gym and Health Update

So it’s summer…

Which means…

I’ve been working real hard at the gym up until my foot biopsy then I had to lay low for two weeks. I’ve lost a bit of weight and I am on some new medication, but not for weight loss and yet it’s affecting my weight loss journey in a way. I am one pound away from my super mini goal if you look in my Training tab on the home page of my website.

I know I should always keep writing, but when it’s summer and I got a million things to do you just forget. I want to make more of this website and do more things, but I am not that talented. We’ll see in the future.
