The crock Pot is one of the most easiest cooking tools to use in today’s modern kitchen. It also doesn’t involve frying anything. It is possible to make unhealthy food in crock pots, but there are so many healthy recipes that you can use to make great meals that taste great. And now I’m starting to sound like an infomercial. lolz ^^;
The first rule about eating healthy is portion control and if it’s just you or you have one more person with you then a 3-6 qt. crock pot would be too much unless your going to squirrel away the extra portions for another day because you don’t plan on cooking in the crock pot every day (Or just for you meal preppers out there this would be a good idea). Keep this in mind. There are many healthy crock pot recipes online to choose from, but make sure they are recipes for the right size crock pot that you want. Now if it’s a party or there are many people living in your house hold then you will need a bigger sized crock pot. I have one healthy crock pot recipe on this website of mine under the tab “Recipes” called “Holy Cow Turkey Chili”.
Who wouldn’t want to use a crock pot? It takes you minutes to prepare and then it cooks all day for you so that by the time you come home from a long day your meal will be ready whenever you are. And I also have to tell you that I learned the hard way about this, but if you are cooking on top of a granite counter top or the like, then you want to put something under your crock pot especially for the bigger models. For my crock pot I put an inch thick wooden cutting board. I started doing this after my granite counter top cracked and split about fifteen inches… ^^;;;;
…yeah lesson learned.
Good news is when the area cooled it closed back up because thank the gods it was on a seam of the counter so it wasn’t a zig-zag break.
The best brand of crock pots I found out are the Hamilton Beach ones…a little pricey, but well worth the extra bucks. Get the one where it has an option after you set it for whatever cooking time that when it’s done it automatically goes to the “warm” setting. This way you can set it and forget it. ^^
I’m still learning cooking with a crock pot and I hope to get better. So far I have perfected my turkey chili. What I mean by this is that I have it basically memorized in my head…mostly. I hope you can experiment with different recipes and meal plans for a healthier and easy way for a more fit lifestyle without having a million dishes in the sink for meal prepping.

I think if I break my fast food and diet soda addiction that will be it. I try to do things in moderation and it either works for awhile, doesn’t work at all, or becomes too much. It feels like breaking up with a significant other. You know they’re toxic for you, but you keep going back anyway thinking it’ll be different the next time. Your anxiety, brain, and cravings lie to you. Don’t listen to them and don’t give in. I’m sure once I start eating healthier foods and get into a good exercise routine as a better healthier habit I can kick those bad habits to the curb. I’ll start next week as I gather up my sure fire plan and when I am able to go back to the gym again.
Well…here’s to my health?

As we age we get wrinkles, joint pain, and our minds aren’t as sharp as they used to be. But is that something to celebrate or to be feared as we get older? Here’s two ways to look at it: You can either look on the cynical side and think about these things in a negative manner, or you can look on the bright and positive side.
With age comes wisdom and those wrinkles? You’ve earned them. Nobody knows your body, but you so you know what it has been through and what it’s going through right now. No one knows the future so there’s no point in worrying about it. We should treat our bodies better because it’s the only one we got. If we want to stay around long enough on this planet for the various reasons like family, friends, adventure, or the pursuit of happiness then we should take care of it. The first step in doing that is talking with your doctor.
The next step is getting on a healthy diet plan that works for you. You shouldn’t think of a diet as in “Die” but with a “T”, but as in the logical and anthropological sense of “diet” what do you eat? What does your diet consists of? This is a change of life and habits and I know it’s easier said than done, but small changes at first is the way to go. You are not going to feel the good changes that a healthier diet will do for you at least six weeks down the road so don’t give up! Your diet is the most important to your health more than exercise because you can’t out run a bad diet…and it’s just bad for your heart that way.
The third step is picking an exercise and fitness routine that works for you. Yes, you will talk to your doctor about this as well. Also, if you can work with a personal trainer to help you figure out a routine that’s best for you. Once you have that down and you start slow at first and then once you get used to it you can up your physical fitness routine.
The fourth step is keeping a journal to write down your thoughts and to, in a way, work things out and also keep a record of your health journey. That way when you do hit the six week mark you can look back on your progress.
Aging doesn’t have to be so bad. Things are going to happen to your body with age, but you can make it a bit easier by doing a little self care for yourself. No one else is going to do it for you. YOU have to make the effort for YOU. If you don’t then how do you expect anyone else to love or care for you if you can’t seem to love or care for yourself. Make your own light first and shine brightly.

I yelled at myself today and so I started dancing to “Just Dance 2017” on my Nintendo Switch. I really wasn’t feeling it today and my arms were really hurting after four songs. I need to go back to the gym and workout for a week and try again on Saturday. The good news is I lost two pounds in a week. I don’t know how I’ve been eating like I wasn’t on a diet this past week while on vacation. And then I totally forgot about my homework the entire week because I was so focused on studying for the vocab quiz on Wednesday…
I’m so grounding myself. I know I am an adult, but that means I can punish myself and so I will be studying most of next weekend away.
